Intellidyne® and
Smart Building Products Increase Energy Efficiency of New York
Schools
Plainview, New York – June 8, 2005 – Intellidyne
LLC, a Plainview, New York manufacturer of energy-saving technologies,
and Smart Building Products, an energy service company based in Newburgh,
New York, are joining forces to help reduce energy expenditures and
consumption by 10-30 percent at school districts throughout the state
of New York.
Some of the first public school systems to adopt the IntelliCon® energy
economizers are Carle Place, North Shore, Comsewogue, Wantagh, and
Lawrence. These school districts are currently using the IntelliCon controls
to reduce fuel consumption on each building’s existing
heating or air conditioning systems by 10% to 30%. IntelliCon economizers
are easily installed on a school’s heating, air conditioning
or refrigeration systems and significantly reduce energy consumption
without affecting the building comfort level for faculty, staff and
students.
The IntelliCon units were recommended to these and other New York
State public schools by Smart Building Products, a company providing
unique energy solutions to school districts throughout the Northeast.
Smart Building Products works closely with leading companies in the
energy sector such as Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Noresco, CS Engineers
and many others. “We evaluated the efficacy of IntelliCon for
several years before recommending the product for our performance
contracting group in public schools,” said Danny Haffel, Director
of Business Development, New York Metro Area, Johnson Controls. “The
results have been so impressive that we automatically include IntelliCon in all of the energy management projects we initiate in the tri-state
area. Based on the success of our other IntelliCon installations,
other regional Johnson Control offices are also adopting the technology.”
IntelliCon will reduce the school’s energy usage by automatically
compensating for load and outdoor temperature changes and works in
conjunction with the heating or cooling system’s existing temperature
controls.
“Most school buildings are equipped with oversized boilers
that short cycle significantly, resulting in much greater energy
usage than necessary,” said Eric Ackerly, President of Smart
Building Products. “By installing IntelliCon on their
existing boilers, school districts can significantly reduce their
energy consumption, increase efficiency and save money. And, IntelliCon is
maintenance- free, unlike some other energy-saving technologies on
the market, thereby reducing a school’s maintenance and energy
budget, as well. These budget reductions are particularly timely
because many Long Island school districts are having difficulty obtaining
the votes needed to pass existing school budgets.”
“Currently, America’s schools spend more than $6 billion
each year on energy, making smart energy management not only necessary,
but critical,” said Dan Tarulli, Executive Vice President
of Business Development for Intellidyne. “With energy costs
and school budgets spiraling out of control, IntelliCon offers
school districts across the country a cost-effective, conservation
solution guaranteed to provide immediate results, while reducing
expenditures within a short period through energy cost management.
School districts on Long Island and around New York State are taking
notice of the tremendous opportunity IntelliCon offers,
and they are taking action.”
