New IntelliCon® Controls Cut Home and Commercial Heating Bills Immediately by up to 30%
Intellidyne® introduces new residential and commercial forced-air furnace energy saving controls
Glen Cove, NY (January 23, 2006) – In this winter of fuel shortages and high energy prices, almost 50 million homeowners and 33 million commercial facilities in the United States now have the ability to cut their heating bills by at least 10%, and probably more, with a new, leading-edge technology.
At the International Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigerating Exposition (AHR Expo) in Chicago, Intellidyne debuted its IntelliCon-FA Residential and IntelliCon-CFA Commercial Forced Air Heating System Fuel Economizers. These energy-saving controls optimize the operation of forced-air furnaces in real-time, allowing them to deliver the same level of heating comfort while consuming measurably less fuel.
Intellidyne’s patented technology reduces energy consumption by optimizing system performance through real-time ‘load-demand’ analysis and control. During operation, the IntelliCon controller continuously determines the optimum burner firing pattern while the unit is in operation and adjusts this pattern automatically as conditions vary. Modifying the way that the burner is cycled results in a more efficient use of the heating system, with subsequent reductions of energy consumption, wear and tear on the equipment, maintenance requirements, and pollution.
According to Jack Hammer, Founder and CEO, “Using our patented technology, these new controls conserve energy, reduce pollution and lower maintenance costs for homes and commercial buildings that use forced air furnaces for heating. With this introduction, virtually everyone who heats this winter can cut their fuel bills significantly without having to turn the thermostat down or put on an extra sweater.”
When a forced air furnace receives a call for heat, the burner ignites and the temperature in the heat exchanger section of the furnace begins to rise. The IntelliCon monitors this temperature rise throughout the burner cycle using its own sensors. As the heat exchanger warms up, the temperature begins to level off, which indicates that the output air temperature is at it maximum level—and that any additional heating of this air is wasteful. The Intellidyne control maintains the air temperature just below this maximum level, which is when the furnace is running at maximum efficiency, by cycling the burner on and off.
The performance of Intellidyne products has been validating by performance testing at internationally recognized research facilities including Brookhaven National Laboratories, Brooklyn Union (KeySpan), Freeport Electric, Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs and The Canadian Energy Conservation Group. Intellidyne products are safety listed by the UL in the United States and Canada as “Energy Management Equipment.”
The controls are easily installed in 60 to 90 minutes by a qualified technician and never require programming or seasonal adjustment. They are non-invasively and easily installed on most new or existing furnace without major rewiring and without voiding manufacturer warranties.
The introduction of the IntelliCon-FA and IntelliCon-CFA rounds out Intellidyne’s line of controls for hydronic, steam and forced-air heating systems, refrigeration systems and package/rooftop air conditioning units. These new controls are available for purchase directly from Intellidyne or through its growing network of dealers.
